A key factor in customer satisfaction in the retail sector is the waiting time at the checkouts. An ever growing number of retailers are recognizing this fact and are deploying more or less intelligent solutions in order not to let customers wait too long on the one hand while avoiding unnecessary idle work time at the cash desks on the other hand. Video sensors were therefore deployed at a critical part of the solution concept, but would hardly have been efficient on their own, since the reaction time as a queue builds is often not sufficient to take effective action against it. The solution used detects customers as soon as they enter the store, detects how many customers have been in the store for how long, and when they arrive at the checkout zone as expected (predictive analysis). In addition, this Business Intelligence Suite can be expanded by in-store for promotional displays, e.g. evaluating the dwell times, generating customer behavior analyses, or detecting correlations between processes that are considered as risky situations or simply lacking cost-efficiency.
